About The Weight Management Foundation
The Weight Management Foundation™ was established in May 2008 by a group of healthcare professionals, who recognised the need for an independent, unbiased platform for all issues related to weight management.
Soaring levels of obesity in the western world means that there is now even greater focus on weight management. The government regularly issues healthy eating guidelines, doctors are implementing strategies to manage associated illnesses that lead to increased mortality and lower life expectancy, gyms are desperately trying to increase membership, 'diet gurus' are promoting their books and new diets and the media is bombarding everyone on a daily basis with the latest weight loss fads. As such there is a large quantity of conflicting, inaccurate and sometimes dangerous information available.
The aim of the Foundation is to cut through the myths, promotional bias and inaccuracies that currently confuse and blur the truth relating to diet, weight loss and weight management. The Foundation will endeavour to ensure that all diets, dietary supplements and nutritional advice etc are reviewed by its board of independent doctors, endocrinologists, dieticians, nutritionists and other specialists so that non promotional, unbiased and balanced information is provided.
The Weight Management Foundation will make its information available on its website, in regular newsletters and at its annual meeting and symposiums.
