The publication of the book 'The practice of Endocrinology', written by Raymond Greene (brother of novelist Graham Greene) advocated a diet almost identical to that of Banting in 1864 - high meat, fish and poultry, and low or no starches and sweet foods (carbohydrates). This work was taken up by Dr. Robert Atkins 20 years later!
