What Is Fat? Page 3
Monounsaturated Fat
Monounsaturated fat is considered to be probably the healthiest type of general fat. It has none of the adverse effects associated with saturated fats, trans-fats or omega-6 polyunsaturated vegetable oils. Many experts now believe that they also have health benefits because they are linked with 'good' blood cholesterol and can therefore play a role in reducing heart disease. The so called 'Mediterranean diet' is rich in monounsaturated fat.
